Anne Widdecombe died at the age of 78.
She was found with serious injuries at her home in Hightower Valley, Devon.

Anne Widdecombe was a prominent figure in British politics for decades. Jersey becomes first jurisdiction in the British Isles to legalise assisted dying
Jersey has become the first jurisdiction in the British Isles to legalise assisted dying after the legislation received Royal Assent.
The law, approved by the States Assembly in February, is expected to come into force by the end of 2027 following a phased implementation process.
The milestone puts Jersey ahead of the Isle of Man, where similar legislation has yet to take effect after the UK Ministry of Justice requested additional safeguards before the bill can receive Royal Assent.
Fourth of July Boat Explosion in Maryland
Nine people were injured after a boat exploded on the Fourth of July in Cecil County, Maryland.
According to the Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal:
Seven of the injured were aboard the boat when the explosion occurred.
Two others were on a nearby dock at the time.
Four victims were transported to specialized burn centers for treatment.
Five additional victims were taken to a trauma center with various injuries.
Authorities have not yet determined what caused the explosion. The incident remains under investigation by state fire officials, who are working to establish the circumstances surrounding the blast. No fatalities have been reported.

BREAKING: Three children have died after a recreational motorboat capsized on Geneva Lake in Wisconsin during a sudden, severe storm over the US semiquincentennial holiday weekend.
According to the Lake Geneva Police Department, the boat was carrying ten people when weather conditions rapidly deteriorated. Emergency crews rescued six adults and one child, while the three remaining children were later recovered from the water and pronounced dead.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the tragedy to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
